Itinerary Details
Day 1 (Jammu to Katra)
After reaching Jammu, you need to proceed towards Katra. Located around 50 kms from Jammu, it takes around 2 hours to reach Katra. You can either take a train, bus or car to reach there. You have an option to begin your journey to the Vaishno Devi temple today or you can relax at a hotel in Katra and explore the area. Have an early dinner and take enough rest.
Day 2 (Katra to Vaishno Devi)
Start off very early the next day for darshan of the Vaishno Devi. You can either walk or take the horse or other options available there. The total distance to the temple and back is around 28 kms. Complete the holy darshan and return back to your accommodation in Katra. Stay in the hotel for the night.
Day 3 (Katra to Srinagar)
After an early breakfast, drive for 270 kms to reach Srinagar. After 9 to 10 hours you will reach Srinagar, the land of beautiful landscapes. You can check into a hotel or you can opt to stay at one of the houseboats in the Dal Lake. Spend the day exploring the Lake. The Dal Lake is like a city on water. You can take a shikara ride in the lake and visit the gardens, shops and markets which are floating in the lake. Have your dinner and stay at the houseboat or a hotel for the night.
Day 4 (Srinagar to Sonamarg)
After a sumptuous breakfast spend the day visiting Sonamarg, the ‘Meadow of Gold’. It’s parked at an altitude of around 9000 feet and lies in the wonderful Sindh Valley. Sonamarg is the origin of many Himalayan treks and is brimming with riveting peaks and delightful meadows. After reaching Sonamarg take a horse rise to the Thajiwas Glacier, one of the most popular tourist attraction and witness its unspoilt and alluring beauty. Stroll around the splendid meadows and return back to Srinagar and have an overnight stay there.
Day 5 (Sightseeing in Srinagar)
You can have a relaxing excursion around the city today. Spend the day visiting the popular local sights like the royal Mughal Gardens, Pari Mahal, Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Garden, the Shankaracharya Temple, Royal Spring and the Tulip Garden. Also visit the Handicraft Emporium and end your day by relishing on some local Kashmiri cuisine.
Day 6 (Srinagar to Gulmarg)
After breakfast head off to Gulmarg, also called the ‘Meadow of Flowers’. Located 70 kms from Srinagar and placed at an altitude of 2750 meters, it takes around 3 hours to reach Gulmarg. You can stop for a picturesque view of the Nanga Parbat on the way. Gulmarg is renowned for its adventure activities like Gondola cable car ride and snow skiing. Gulmarg also has the highest golf course in the world. You can also choose to go for a 4 hour trek to Khilangmarg. Stay in a hotel in Gulmarg today.
Day 7 (Gulmarg to Pahalgam)
Today proceed to the ‘Valley of the Shepherd’, Pahalgam. It lies 140 kms from Gulmarg and the drive takes around 4 hours. En route you should stop by and visit the vibrant saffron fields, Avantipura Ruins and the Anantnag Sulpher Springs. Check in to a hotel in Pahalgam and relax for the night.
Day 8 (Pahalgam)
Spend the day exploring the place. Visit the Snow point which lies 15 kms from Pahalgam. Enjoy the valleys of Chandanwadi and the tranquil lakes of Pahalgam. Indulge in some leisure walks in the pine forests beside the Lidder River. Have dinner and stay in a hotel for the night.
Day 9 (Pahalgam to Srinagar)
Today after spending some time in Pahalgam you need to drive back to Srinagar. Srinagar is 100 kms from Pahalgam and it will take you 3 hours to reach. Spend the rest of the day exploring Srinagar. Have an overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 10 (Srinagar)
You can either spend the day visiting areas around Srinagar and continuing your trip or you can reach the airport and depart back to your hometown with abundant everlasting memories.
